Giovanni’s Room

After taking advantage of  my couchsurfing host for what I felt to be too long, I decided to spend a couple of days in hostels.  I shouldn’t have been suprised when I found most of them completely booked. I chanced upon a hostel with an open bed, and upon further investigation, found that it was listed as a “gay friendly” hostel.  This was fine, so I called and booked a bed.  The price was about E32, and I figured that I was homeless, and that was a good deal for a reservation the day of.

I arrived later by metro creimée and walked to the apartment where the hostel was found.  Giovanni greeted me warmly and showed me in.  As I entered the door, there was a large poster of Batman and Robin making out, as well as other large posters of men wearing practically nothing, that were very…. umm…. excited.  This of course caught me off guard, but I quickly adjusted to the vibe of the apartment.  Giovanni was great, and he offered me tea while I caught up on my mountain of work to be done house-hunting online.

He presented me with my keys, and the rulebook.

I was told that the 10 rules page was copyrighted, but suffice to say, rule 3 was (and I’m paraphrasing here as to avoid copyright infringement) “If you’re using the bathroom, thats okay, but if someone is waiting, share!” I’ll be honest, a for a moment I considered how I was going to avoid the 3 am orgy. And, really, I do prefer to bathe alone.

Actually, the stay was very comfortable and affordable.  Although I found myself only pulling out the complementary map he provided me discretely, as the picture on the back involved two men wearing leather.. very little leather.. (you can imagine.) All in all, I would recommend the place to anyone traveling through who is open minded. Although, it is a male only apartment, as noted by the “No girls allowed” sign on the door.

Bon Chance mes amis!

Drew!
